公式の説明にもある通り、Node-Redはデフォでは安全ではありません。
例としてwebcamのような接続デバイスを使うパッケージだと、そもそも稼働しない事も。

This node will work in all modern browsers, but not IE.If you are accessing the dashboard remotely (not via localhost), then you must use HTTPS otherwise the browser will block access to the webcam.
とあり、HTTPSでない限りサポートはしない様子。
これでは同一サブネットの機体でも接続できません。
という訳で、設定ファイルを弄ってhttps化する必要があります。
